North Country Savings Bank Employee Proud to Support His Community
North Country Savings Bank (NCSB) Regional Loan Originator Rob Liggio of Canton, N.Y. helps his community in and out of work. From handling customer inquiries to providing coaching tips to local youth and collegiate players, Liggio brings a positive outlook to everything he does.
Based in the Canton NCSB office, Liggio oversees the lending portfolios of the Canton, Ogdensburg, and Massena locations. Through his role, he supports new and existing customers with loan applications, serving as the point-of-contact for customers.
"The best part of my job is building new relationships. I enjoy working to gain customers' trust and being their go-to person," Liggio said. "Helping customers get into their first homes or even their dream homes is rewarding."
As a NCSB employee for over six years, Liggio began his tenure as a bank teller before moving into new roles such as deposit operations representative, banker, assistant branch manager, and loan originator.
"I have always been a customer of the bank and I knew a few friends who worked at NCSB as part-time tellers," Liggio said. "So, I took a chance as a teller and it all worked out."
Liggio believes NCSB's customer service particularly stands out when it comes to the bank's offerings. NCSB takes pride in answering customers' questions personally and in a timely manner. With lending, Liggio says the entire loan process is in-house, which results in optimal turnaround time and quick responses to customer needs. One unique lending offering NCSB has is "We See it Too – CD." Customers who open a CD with NCSB with a minimum deposit of $500 and keep it for six months are able to put 10% down with no PMI (private mortgage insurance).
"It's nice to be able to step in and help people achieve their goals," Liggio said. "We focus on accountability and trust — it's important to make a good first impression so customers know they can count on you."
When Liggio is not at NCSB, he is busy coaching and spending time outdoors. He has been the assistant coach of the men's lacrosse team at SUNY Canton for the past eight years and an assistant coach of the boys' ice hockey team at Canton's Hugh C. Williams Senior High School for the past two years. In addition, Liggio is an avid golfer and travels to play at courses throughout the North Country every chance he gets.
"Being born and raised in Canton, sports were a huge part of my childhood. I always wanted to be a coach," Liggio said. "I decided to get involved in coaching locally because I've made lasting friendships through sports and I want to help provide that same experience for the kids today."
Liggio is grateful NCSB encourages community involvement with its employees and as an organization. Through donating to charity events, youth events, and golf tournaments, NCSB and its employees help make community initiatives a success.
"I enjoy seeing customers I work with in the community," Liggio said. "It's also a neat connection when parents of the high school students I coach ask me questions because they see me working with their kids and then become customers. It means a lot to earn their trust."
